Fall Saturday Group Road Rides!

We’ve had lots of requests for a Saturday morning road ride over the past few years and we thought it’d be a good time to start since the time change effects our Thursday ride attendance. We will begin at 10am and ride the House Mtn loop from the shop. The route is hilly but we will ride as a group and leave no one behind. It is a 35 mile route and the main group will average around 15-16mph. We will break at House mtn and ride back. We hope a good amount of our Thursday riders will be able to come too. This is a longer route but it will have the same social vibe with good roads and nice views.

11th Annual Neighborhood Bike Ride
Saturday, October 22, 2011

Ride leaves at 10:30 a.m. and visits North Hills, 4th & Gill, Belle Morris, and Edgewood Park.

Meet on Central Street, just north of Baxter Avenue.
Sign in, bike safety checks and bike helmet decorating start at 9:30 a.m.
Helmets required. All ages and skill levels welcome.

NEW! Families with small children and people not up for more hills can do the short route, which will include a fun-filled rest stop with kids activities. Everyone will be together for the beginning and end of the route. Refreshments and more activities will be available after the ride.

If you plan to participate in the bike ride, please RSVP so we can have a head count for the post-ride refreshments.

FCP 3 year Anniv. Party! July 23, 2011

If you miss this event/party you’ll regret it! We’ll have a N. Knox Bicycle Photo Scavenger Hunt starting at 3pm…Grilling and Beverages starting between 3 and 5pm…Music around 5pm until late…outdoor mtb video’s via projector and screen…cornhole(bag toss)bike riding…and a bike ramp. Oh yeah, and a New Belgium Cruiser Bike raffle to benefit the AMBC(Appalachain Mtn Bike Club)! We’ll also have some prizes for the Bicycle Photo Scavenger hunt for different categories such as fastest completion and most creative photography! Do yourself a favor and come hang out at the Fountain City Pedaler this Sat. afternoon! Bring some chairs, your bikes, some friends, and we’ll take care of the rest!

FCP Thursday Road Rides!

We’ll we started up earlier this year since so many people were asking when we would get rolling again! This ride has been going strong for almost 3 years now! We met lots of cool people that share a love for pedaling bikes! There are route options to accommodate different rider levels. We have 20, 25, and 35 mile routes planned out and split into groups according to attendance and rider ability. The 25 mile route is the most popular and the pace varies but on average we pedal at 14-16 mph as a group. We stop at all major turns and hill tops to collect everyone. This is a no drop ride that anyone with a road bike and some experience can complete. We recommend front and rear lights, a helmet, water, nutrition bars, and flat repair necessities(tube, tire levers, CO2 or a pump). The 35 mile route is a faster ride averaging 18-21 mph…no drop as well. Post ride beverages are optional but recommended.
